Drunk cop arrested for causing disturbance in Kakamega

A police officer attached to Kakamega police station was Saturday arrested after causing disturbance.

According to a police statement seen by K24 Digital, the officer jumped into Maraba estate within Kakamega town at 1am and created disturbance prompting the residents to wake up.

“Scene visited by police and the suspect identified himself as Adminstration Police officer No.250411 APC John Chibeya attached to CIPU Kakamega Central Sub County. He was disarmed and AK 47 rifle body No. KE AP 5316177 without magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62mm special recovered,” statement read in part.

According to the police, the officer was supposed to be on night shift at the office of Deputy County Commissioner’s office.

The officer attacked one of the residents, injuring her on the forehead.

“The officer was appearing totally drunk and was not able to account for the missing magazine and 30 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition issued to him. He had slight injury on the forehead and was escorted to Kakamega County Hospital for medication,” the statement added.
