Dorcas Rigathi’s promises solution after Kenyan men in USA complain about mistreatment by their wives

It was a witty moment when Dorcas Gachagua, the spouse of the former Deputy President and a well-known advocate for men’s rights and the boychild, engaged Kenyan men living in Seattle, USA, before beginning her speech on Saturday, July 12.

She playfully asked the men if they were being treated well by their wives. In unison, they all responded with a loud “no”, prompting an eruption of laughter that swept through the entire room. Even Dorcas herself was carried away by the moment, joining in the laughter.

Amid the cheerful atmosphere, she assured the men that she would speak to the women present, promising that after their conversation, the women would treat them better.

Role of women

Once the room settled, Dorcas emphasised the crucial role of women in society. She noted that women represent the future, as they are the ones who give birth and nurture life and should therefore be respected and honoured.

She also encouraged women to honour their husbands, acknowledging men as the seed carriers, and urged them to take good care of their partners before concluding her speech.

“Don’t worry; we are going to have a talk, and I am sure they are going to treat you right. Mothers are very important. When you see women, you see the future because they give birth to all of us, and therefore they ought to be respected and honoured,” Dorcas said.

“And women, when we give birth, we must respect and honour and make sure each one of us has equal opportunities. When you see these men, they are the seed carriers; just take care of them,” she added.

Gachagua’s remarks

In the same event, Gachagua lauded Karua for her long-standing contribution to the liberation of Kenya, something she has been committed to for many years.

“When I looked at the way things are going in Kenya and the struggle that we are having with Kasongo, I thought that I needed to go look for my sister because she has been at it for a longer time than all of us; she has really fought for the liberation of many years,” Gachagua said.

Support assured

He further explained that it was this legacy that prompted him to visit her at her home in Kirinyaga, where he pleaded with her to join him in opposing the current regime, a government he claimed has implemented policies that continue to oppress Kenyans. After their conversation, she accepted and assured him of her support in ensuring that President Ruto is not re-elected in 2027.
