Flamboyant city lawyer Donald Kipkorir has defended human rights activist Boniface Mwangi from online criticism.

Taking to his official X account on Monday, July 8, 2024, Donald Kipkorir termed the activist as a leader for Kenya that is free of corruption, nepotism and tribalism and for all.

Donald on Mwangi’s efforts

According to the lawyer, there is no other person, after Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya leader Raila Odinga, who has sacrificed his own life, time and resources for a new Kenya like Boniface Mwangi has.

The lawyer further points out that history will give Boniface Mwangi his worthy place.

“Undisputed fact: Boniface Mwangi is the leader for Kenya Free of Corruption, Nepotism and Tribalism and For All. No other person after Raila Odinga Generation has sacrificed his own life, time & resources to a New Kenya as BM has. History will give him his worthy place in our annals,” Donald Kipkorir stated.

Donald Kipkorir’s remarks come amid the criticism Boniface Mwangi has been facing online over his involvement in the ongoing Gen Z revolution.

Alai-Boniface Mwangi exchange

Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai had criticised Boniface Mwangi and other organizers of the just concluded Shujaaz Memorial Concert that was held at Uhuru Park on Sunday, July 7, 2024, for erecting crosses of the victims of the anti-government protests.

Alai argued that it was not fair for them to erect the crosses when the same was never done for the River Yala victims.

“If we are going to place crosses for victims of police brutality, can we also have crosses for those killed by Uhuru and Kibaki? I think that it’s unfair to Ruto who has been in power for just one and half years while Uhuru arrested me a record 39 times and killed so many here. Try to remember even GPO Oulu and Oscar Kingara for a start. River Yala victims of Uhuru should have a monument. We shouldn’t engage in selective fight for justice,” Alai argued.

In response, Boniface Mwangi told Alai that he was the one who helped the country discover bodies in River Yala.

However, Alai hit back, asking him to provide photo evidence of crosses being erected for the River Yala victims.

“Can we have photos of crosses erected for River Yala victims? Also the 2015 and 2017 demo victims,” Alai said.

Boniface Mwangi hit back, accusing Alai of sideshows.

“You’re a member of ODM party that organised those protests, and you or Baba can do it. We helped some River Yala families identify their loved ones, and give them a decent burial. Robert Alai, this sideshows make no sense, get to your point, and stop pretending you care,” he said.

Holding Boniface to account

Alai took the response as an insult, arguing that Boniface Mwangi was trying to run away from being held to account.

“Why is there too much insults when you people are engaged? Is that’s the way to prevent being held to account? You are holding us politicians to account. Why are you people refusing accountability?” Alai questioned.

Alai has also been arguing that Boniface Mwangi and his team are being financed by politicians to call for the Gen Z protests.

Several other netizens have also been on Boniface Mwangi’s neck, arguing that he has been benefitting from the protests indirectly, demanding to hold him to account.
