DJ Evolve, who was allegedly shot by Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, is not dead, sources within the DCI circles have confirmed to K24 Digital.

Reports of Evolve’s alleged death have been making the rounds on social media Friday evening, with users claiming the entertainer died while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital after being shot in the neck at 7am Friday at B-Club in Kilimani, Nairobi.

A DCI officer, who is handling the case, has told K24 Digital that the reports are untrue.

“Five minutes to 8pm Friday (January 17), the patient was being taken to the operating theatre for advanced medical care. He was, however, unconscious,” said the detective, who sought anonymity.

Police said Friday morning that Evolve was taken to the city hospital in critical condition.

Evolve was allegedly shot in the neck by the Embakasi East lawmaker over a wrangle whose cause is yet to be known.

Babu Owino’s lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, claims that his client just played the role of taking Evolve to hospital, and that he [Owino] did not shoot the disc jockey.

CCTV footage showing a man who has like-for-like resemblance to Owino whipping out a gun and shooting a reveller has since emerged.

Owino remains locked up at Kilimani police post as detectives comb for evidence to sustain an attempted murder case against the first-time parliamentarian.
