At least 15 people have been injured after they were attacked by a suspected criminal gang on Monday night in crime prone area of Kisauni in Mombasa.

Nine of the injured were admitted at the Coast provincial General hospital while the rest were treated and discharged at Yeshua Medicare hospital.
Police said only nine people were injured.

The  attack happened at around 8.30pm near Naivas supermarket in Bamburi.

Mombasa county commissioner Evans Achoki  said the  juvenile criminals who staged the attack were armed with machetes.

“We have launched manhunt for the gang.  We will not allow them to disrupt peace,” he said. He said the motive of the attack is still not known.
However,  Walking Kwanzaa criminal gang is known to carry such attacks on innocent people without even stealing anything.

Cosmus Mwamuye, a bodaboda rider who suffered deep cuts on his head, said the gang rained terror on him outside the supermarket where he had gone to pick  a customer.

“I was on top of my motorbike, I saw people running after me and before I could run away,  they had already slashed my head,” he said.
