COVID-19 updates: 162 more test positive, 16 succumb

In the last 24 hours, Kenya recorded 162 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the country’s caseload to 170,647.

In a statement, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe noted that the number of infections recorded was from a sample size of 3,452.

The total number of cumulative tests now stands at 1,809,890.

CS Kagwe confirmed that there are 1,225 patients currently admitted to various hospitals across the country. Another, 4,724 patients are on the home-based care program.

643 more patients have recovered from the disease out of which 406 were from the Homebased care program while 237 were discharged from various health facilities bringing the total recoveries to 116,776.

Kagwe noted that 16 more patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total fatalities to 3,157.

A total of 93 patients are in ICU, out of which 20 are on ventilatory support.

85 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen, where 79 are in general wards and six in the HDU.
