President William Ruto has assured residents of Ukambani that their region will not be left behind in his next government.

Speaking during a visit to Makueni County on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, Ruto said he was committed to ensuring that the people of Ukambani are fully included in national development plans and decision-making.

Hata mkinipatia kura kidogo mimi nakuja hapa. Mimi nawahakikishia, hii Ukambani haitabaki nyuma tena. Mimi siwezi kuunda serikali inayofuata bila watu wa Ukambani. Mko tayari ama hamko tayari?” he said.

Ruto noted that Ukambani had been sidelined for many years due to political opposition, but he was determined to change that.

Ndio mimi nimekuja kuwaeleza mapema, sitakubali mambo ya Ukambani ibaki nyuma,” he said.

Development plans for Ukambani

During the visit, Ruto highlighted specific development projects aimed at improving services in the region. He mentioned a plan to equip hospitals in Makueni County with modern medical technology.

The plan is part of a broader strategy to ensure that healthcare and other critical services in Ukambani meet national standards.
