Several rounds of ammunition were on Saturday afternoon recovered from Babu Owino’s Kileleshwa home as detectives intensify investigations into the shooting of B-Club disc jockey, Felix Orinda, alias DJ Evolve.
DCI officers handling the case told K24 Digital that the lawmaker owns the bullets legally, but confiscated them to aid in further probe.
During the search conducted at around 2pm, Babu Owino, who was transferred to Gigiri Police Station from Kilimani police post early Saturday, was present.
Detectives say they have taken Babu Owino’s DNA samples to help in ascertaining his role at the scene of crime — B-Club — which was cordoned off on Friday morning.
A senior DCI officer, who spoke to K24 Digital but declined to be identified, said they have also established that the MP has paid at least Ksh600, 000 for DJ Evolve’s treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
After the search at his home, Babu Owino was taken back to Gigiri Police Station where he will spend the weekend in custody pending arraignment Monday. The suspect arrived at Gigiri at 3:30pm Saturday.
