Shock has engulfed residents in Lolgorian, Trans Mara West, Narok County after a dead body of a male adult was found dumped beside Lolgorian-Kehancha road.

According to one resident identified as Joseph Mwita, a Bodaboda operator saw the body first and alerted the public.

Mwita further said that what shocked them more was that the body was covered by a mass of red ants on the head and the legs with the face being completely disfigured.

“The body was thickly covered by red ants hence it was difficult to identify the deceased on the spot. I decided to report to the police who acted immediately,” he said.

Narok County Police Commander Kizito Mutoro confirmed the incident saying they are however yet to identify the deceased due to the damages on his face.

Mutoro said the body was moved to Kilgoris Mission hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting identification.

He has now called on residents with missing kin to report to the nearest police station to hasten the process of identifying the deceased.

Several incidents of bodies being found dumped by the roadsides, water bodies, and bushes have been reported in the county in the recent past with the most recent one being that of a 59-year-old man that was found dumped in a ditch beside the road at Kojong’a area, Narok East.

Early this month, another body of an unknown person was found decomposing in a thicket in Olombokishi area in Narok East Sub County. It was discovered by herders who then informed the police.

Police have since called on residents to be vigilant especially when walking alone during night hours.
