The Kenya Meteorological Department has named areas likely to receive rainfall in the next five days starting from Saturday, August 17, 2024, to Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
According to the general weather forecast, most areas which will receive rainfall in the next five days experienced a similar pattern in the last few days.
“Rainfall is expected to continue over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya,” the weatherman predicted.
Breakdown of areas
Rainfall will be experienced over a few areas within the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.
The showers will be accompanied by thunderstorms in the afternoon throughout the five days.
According to Kenya Met counties within this region include Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia and West Pokot.
In the North-west region which covers Turkana and Samburu counties, rainfall is expected in the morning, afternoon and later in the evening from Saturday to Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Nairobi and adjacent areas
Highlands East of the Rift Valley region which includes Nairobi County is expected to experience cloudy weather before transitioning to sunny intervals.
There are also chances of light showers in the afternoon and in the evening.
Counties which will experience a similar weather pattern include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu and Tharaka.
“Intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley,” Kenya Met’s forecast read in part.
Other areas
South-eastern lowlands (Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado and Taita Taveta Counties) will generally experience sunny intervals same as the coastal counties of Mombasa, Tana River, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale.
