Andrew Kibe blasts fans after CAF fines Kenya over stadium mayhem
By Paulette Mboga, August 13, 2025Media personality Andrew Kibe has sharply criticised Kenyan football fans following a hefty fine imposed on the country by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) over security breaches at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Taking his frustrations out on X on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, shortly after the CAF disciplinary board announced a Ksh6.4 million penalty, Kibe accused a section of fans of lacking decorum and self-control during major events.
“Goonism is killing our country. Watu wa ocha wa rudi ocha if they cannot enjoy nice things without being chaotic,” Kibe said, expressing frustration at the behaviour that led to the fine.

CAF’s fines Kenya
The fine stems from incidents that occurred during the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament, where lapses in security at Kasarani Stadium disrupted proceedings.
CAF’s disciplinary board found Kenya guilty of breaching safety and security regulations, imposing a USD 50,000 (approximately Ksh6.4 million) fine. The board also warned that continued violations could see the relocation of Kenya’s national team matches to other venues outside the country.
“The Disciplinary Board found Kenya guilty and imposed a fine of USD 50,000. Kenya was warned that continued failure to meet CAF safety and security requirements may lead to the relocation of Kenya’s National Team matches to an alternative venue,” CAF said in its statement.
In addition to the fine, CAF issued directives to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to bolster security at future matches. This includes deploying adequate personnel within the stadium’s perimeter and ensuring that all access roads to the venue are closed on match days.
“Kenya was advised to increase security measures by deploying sufficient personnel within the perimeter of the stadium as well as adhering to the road closures on match day,” CAF stated.
Kibe’s call for change
Kibe’s comments reflect growing frustration among sports enthusiasts and public figures over recurring incidents of unruly fan behaviour. He argued that such actions not only tarnish Kenya’s reputation but also jeopardise future opportunities to host prestigious tournaments.
With CAF’s warning now hanging over the country, all eyes will be on FKF, security agencies, and fans themselves to ensure that the remainder of the CHAN tournament and future matches proceed without further incident.
