Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has called Kenyans to join President William Ruto’s engagement on X space which will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 2 pm to 5 pm.
Stating the importance of joining the space, Alai, in a statement shared on X, said that the discussion will give Kenyans a platform to ask Ruto hard and real questions affecting the country amid hard economic times.
Alai further emphasized that logging in, listening to and engaging the president is a sign of maturity.
“Join the X Space and ask the President hard questions—real questions and with facts. Be different! Logging in, listening and engaging the President is maturity,” Alai said.
He added that the platform provides a safe space where Kenyans can solve many problems facing the country that were raised during the countrywide anti-government protest.
“How do you claim to want to solve the many problems locally if you can’t engage in a platform where you can even ask very hard questions?”Alai said.
Alai’s sentiments come after a section of Generation Z vowed to boycott Ruto’s engagement and hold a parallel X-space.

Ruto’s X space talk
All the Cabinet Secretaries will be joining Ruto on the X Space meeting with Gen Z to listen to the demands of the youth.
According to Ruto, the meeting will provide room for discussion of the issues raised by the youths during the countrywide anti-government demonstrations such as the high cost of living, corruption and inefficiencies in the various ministries of the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Parallel space meeting
A section of activists and youths who are at the forefront in criticising the Kenya Kwanza administration have expressed dissent on the planned X Space meeting by Ruto and vowed to hold a parallel meeting.
The unsatisfied youths argue that the X space meeting should be arranged by Gen Z themselves and Ruto with his cabinet be hosted as a guest.
Ruto’s talk with the young generation comes after a series of countrywide anti-government demonstrations by the youthful protesters who were against the proposed finance bill which had introduced an extra tax levy amid hard economic times.
