On Monday, August 20, 2024, the country woke up to the shocking news of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the murder of women whose bodies were found dumped in Kware, Mukuru Kwa Njenga, escaping from police custody.

A month later, the suspect, who escaped together with 12 other foreign nationals who had been detained at Gigiri Police Station, has not been rearrested.

Now, Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai, on Sunday, September 22, 2024, took to his official social media accounts to call out Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director, Mohamed Amin, over the incident.

DCI boss called out

Alai in his statement urged President William Ruto to fire the DCI boss over Jumaisi’s escape.

According to Alai, Jumaisi should never have been free if he really committed the Kware murders as narrated by the DCI following his arrest.

Alai further argues that the right suspect should be arrested and be put in custody if Jumaisi was found not to have committed the murders.

“President Ruto should move quickly and immediately remove the DCI boss because of this. There is no reason why this man should be free if he really committed the murders. If he didn’t commit the murders, we want the suspect in custody. DCI boss, you are failing Kenya,” Alai stated.

DCI’s appeal

The DCI had earlier called for public help in tracking down and re-arresting the suspected serial killér, Collins Jumaisi.

In a notice shared on Thursday, August 22, 2024, the anti-crime agency asked the citizens to come forward and give credible information that could lead to his apprehension.

The detectives are even willing to give out a cash reward to anyone who would positively identify the suspected serial killér who is on the loose.

“The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is seeking the public’s help in providing information that could assist in the re-arrest of Collins Jumaisi Khalusha. He was scheduled to be charged with murder but escaped from police custody on Monday, 20/8/2024.

“A significant cash reward will be provided to anyone with credible information leading to the suspect’s arrest,” DCI’s notice read in part.

However, DCI did not specify the amount that would be dished out to anyone who would share information that would lead to the arrest of the suspect.

According to the notice, Jumaisi is from Shiru Sub-location, Shaviringa Location, Hamisi Sub-county in Vihiga County.

“Information on the suspect’s whereabouts can be reported confidentially to the anonymous #FichuaKwaDCI hotline at 0800722203 or the police hotlines 999, 911, and 112, or to any police station in the republic.”

Jumaisi’s arrest

Jumaisi was first arrested after mutilated bodies were retrieved from the Kware dumpsite. Detectives raided his house and recovered some items, which they noted were crucial in the investigations.

The detectives further informed the nation that Jumaisi had confessed to the murdérs. However, he later denied the claims, insisting that he was coerced into making the disclosure.
