By K24 Editorial, September 26, 2023The National Construction Authority (NCA) has issued a statement detailing what led to the collapse of a Mirema building on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
In a statement, the authority through its head Maurice Akech confirmed that the building, a ten-storey residential house which was under construction collapsed due to poor structural concrete used during the construction of the building.
Akech while vowing that the authority will conduct a detailed investigation, also confirmed that there were no casualties, however, the incident caused damage to an adjacent building, a vehicle, and a Kenya Power infrastructure.
“Preliminary assessment of the failure points to poor structural concrete used in the construction. A detailed investigation will be conducted in the coming days to determine the actual cause of failure for this development.
“Any person who will be found to have acted in contravention of the law or defied lawful directions issued by a competent authority will be subjected to the full force of the law,” Akech cautioned.
