A licensed gun holder in Kiambu county on Tuesday night July 11, 2023, shot dead two robbers as two others escaped with gunshot wounds.

The incident happened in the Kiriko area of Githunguri Sub-County where the robbers were caught red-handed vandalizing vehicles in an apartment after terrorising tenants.

Confirming the incident, Kiambu County  Commander Perminus Kioi said the four thugs raided an apartment and attacked tenants before vandalising vehicles which were parked outside.

The police boss added that one of the tenants in the apartment confronted the thugs shooting two dead as others escaped with injuries.

“The criminals raided the apartment without knowing that one of the victims had a firearms license and so he was able to shoot two of them while two others escaped with injuries,” Kioi told K24 Digital on the phone.

He added that the vandalism syndicate has been rampant in Juja, Githunguri and along the Nairobi Nakuru highway.

The police warned robbers that their days are numbered, insisting that law enforcers are on high alert waiting to deal with lawbreakers.

“We are warning any criminal planning to continue with the heinous act that the law enforcers will not condone them,” he said.

Residents called upon the law enforcers to heighten patrols in residential areas in order to curb more activities of vandalism and other related criminal activities which they said have continued to escalate in the area.
