President William Ruto has asked the new broad-based cabinet to get down to work and serve Kenyans with distinction.

Ruto’s message comes after witnessing the swearing-in of the new Attorney General, Dorcas Oduor, and Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, Beatrice Moe Askul, at State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday, August 20, 2024.

Oduor takes over the post that initially became vacant following the dismissal of Justin Muturi. Muturi, along with Cabinet Secretaries, were relieved of their duties when President Ruto dissolved his cabinet before he appointed a new one.

Askul, the new Cabinet Secretary for East African Community, also took her oath of office. Askul was the latest cabinet appointee and was vetted and approved by parliament before taking the oath.

“The newly-appointed broad-based cabinet must now get down to work and serve Kenyans with distinction.

“Witnessed the swearing-in of Attorney-General Dorcas Oduor and East Africa Community and Regional Development Cabinet Secretary Beatrice Asikul, State House Nairobi. Ms Oduor is the first lady Attorney-General in Kenya,” Ruto’s statement, on X, said.
