Ruto appoints Tom Mshindi as KBC chairman

President William Ruto on Friday appointed Tom Mshindi Nyamancha as the Chairman of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

In a notice, the President noted that Mshindi will be serving in the position for three years effective January 19, 2024.

Mshindi takes over from Benjamin Maingi whose appointment was revoked.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the State Corporation Act and section 4 (1) (a) of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces appoint Tom Mshindi Nyamancha to the Chairperson of the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 19th January 2024,” the notice read in parts.

Mshindi brings on board years of experience in journalism and media.

The veteran journalist has served as the Managing editor for Daily Nation.

He has also acted as Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Monitor Publications, a subsidiary of Nation Media Group (NMG) in Uganda and served as a consulting editor and writer for Tom Mshindi Consulting.
