KeNHA announces temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a notice of temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD bound) between Haile Selassie Roundabout and Parliament Road.

In an official statement shared by KeNHA on Friday, April 5, the closure is scheduled to take effect from Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:00 p.m. until Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 5:00 a.m.

The highway authority cited the installation of Service Ducts along the designated route as the reason for the planned closure.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Haile Selassie Avenue (CBD Bound Lanes) between Haile Selassie roundabout and Parliament Road. This closure is scheduled to commence from Friday, April 5, 2024, at 10:00 pm to Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 5:00 am. This is to allow for the installation of Service Ducts,” the Authority stated.

During the closure period, motorists are advised to adhere to the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals stationed at the site.

The closure will affect commuters travelling towards the Central Business District (CBD) along Haile Selassie Avenue.

KeNHA assured the public that measures have been put in place to minimize inconvenience during the temporary closure.

Additionally, traffic management personnel will be on-site to assist with the smooth flow of traffic and ensure the safety of all road users.

“This is to allow for the installation of Service Ducts. KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” KeNHA announced

Closure of Uhuru Highway

Just days ago, a section of Uhuru Highway between Haile Selassie Avenue Roundabout and Rubis/Neno Evangelism Church was closed.

The temporary closure took effect from Sunday, March 31, at 10 pm to Monday, April 1, 2024, at 5 am.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway 9Mombasa Bound Lanes between Haile Selassie Avenue roundabout and Rubis/Neno Evangelism church detour. This closure is scheduled to commence from Sunday, March 31, 2024,” KeNHA had announced before the closure.

According to KeNHA, the closure of the road was to allow the installation of service ducts.

Days before, KeNHA announced the closure of the Uhuru Highway 9A8) between Hotel Boulevard and the University of Nairobi, roundabout (Mombasa Bound)

In their announcement, the authority said the closure will commence from Thursday, March 28, 2024, to 11.59 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Hotel Boulevard and University of Nairobi roundabout (Mombasa Bound) from 11.59 pm on Thursday, March 28, 2024, to 11.59 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024. This is to allow for the construction of a pedestrian tunnel connecting the University of Nairobi Main Campus and Chiromo Campus,” KeNHA announced.
