Police have arrested a Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student who is reported to have killed his friend.

Confirming the incident, Juja sub-county police commander Philis Muthoni said the deceased 21-year-old Arnold Otieno had gone to visit his friend Joseph Nyambuga at his house on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, when they had a disagreement.

Arnold and Joseph, both third-year architecture students at JKUAT, were embroiled in a bitter exchange that led to the former attacking the latter.

“The deceased was said to be drunk and during a verbal exchange between the two, his colleague hit him on the head with the grill of a gas cooker and he fell down, bleeding profusely,” Juja sub-county police commander Philis Muthoni said.

She added that police later established that the attacker wrapped the victim’s body in a bed sheet, put it under the bed and even cleaned the blood stains in the room.

Arnold’s lifeless body was discovered hidden under Joseph’s bed on Wednesday morning after his death was reported to police who then retrieved and took it to the City Mortuary pending a post-mortem.

Juja police boss said the suspect is being processed to appear in court over the murder.

She added that reports indicate the two grew up together and were good friends, but it wasn’t clear why their disagreement resulted in death.
