Shelmith Kiprono, the house help accused of stealing Ksh104 million from her employer in Lang’ata, Nairobi, has been arraigned in court.

The maid, also known as Jerop, was arraigned at the Kibera Law Courts on Monday, May 30,

She has been in custody since last week after her arrest in Eldoret. Police say they managed to recover Ksh2.5 million from her.

The court heard that the woman stole Ksh4 million, $806,000 and jewellery worth Ksh4 million from Samar Al-Kindy’s house.

Complainant alleges death threats

In her submissions through lawyer Danstan Omari, the complainant told the court that her life is in danger.

She claimed to have received threats from unknown persons.

Samar now wants the court to reverse bond terms issued to Jerop’s co-accused.

The four co-accused persons had each been granted a Ksh7 million bond which was later reviewed to Ksh1 million.

Omari raised concerns that the bond amount doesn’t tally with the money his client lost.

Those facing theft charges include Caleb Rasto, Jackline Kinzi and Eunice Moi. Rasto claims the two; Jackline and Eunice, are his wives.
