One police officer was killed and another injured during an operation in Kamae, Kahawa West, Nairobi, on Monday, July 4, 2022.

The officers were pursuing a suspected burglar in Kahawa West at the time of the incident.

In a police report seen by K24 Digital, the suspect identified as Ibrahim Ali Mwarabu alias Stepa refused to surrender and opened fire at the officers.

He shot and killed Sergeant Grevious Otieno of Lungalunga police station on the spot and injured Nicholas Kiremi of Industrial area Police Station at the collar bone.

“He was ordered to surrender; however, he retaliated by shooting at the officers where CMM NO.224263 SGT Grevious Otieno of Lungalunga police station was fatally injured and PC Nicholas Kiremi of Industrial area Police Station was injured near the collar bone,” the police report read in part.

Apparently, during the confrontation, the suspect jumped through a perimeter wall and took cover in an open septic tank, shooting indiscriminately at the cops.
