Police in Bungoma have launched investigations following the cold blood murder of two people in Bumula on Saturday night.

Unknown assailants are said to have attacked the duo at a bar at Kimwanga village in West Bukusu ward in the dead of the night.

Police identified one of the victims as a guard at Vuta Pumzi bar and the other a headteacher at a local primary school.

The guard died on the spot while the teacher passed on at a local hospital where he was rushed for treatment.

While confirming the incident, Kamaeti OCPD Aggrey Makomere said the incident was reported to the police at around 4:00 am by the caretaker of the property where the bar seats.

“Immediately I received the call I moved very first with my private vehicle to come and see what has really happened. I found the teacher lying helpless as the watchman was in a pool of blood,” Makomere said.

With the help of locals, the police boss rushed the teacher to the hospital where he died while receiving treatment.

According to the officer, the attackers didn’t steal anything from the bar apart from the victims’ phones.

“I think this is a young gang that has developed in Kimaeti, they escaped with the phones to interfere with investigations,” Makomere stated.

Security heightened in Bungoma

The motive of the killing remains unknown.

However, police confirmed that security has been heightened in the area ahead of the Tuesday general elections,

The bodies of the deceased were moved to Bungoma County Referral Hospital Mortuary as police continue with investigations into the killings.
