11 rescued, 5 missing after boat capsizes in Lake Baringo

11 people have been rescued after a boat en route from Salabani to Kokwa Island capsized in Lake Baringo.

In a statement by the Kenya Red Cross Society on Sunday, April 21st, it was revealed that a search for five more people is ongoing.

“Rescue efforts are underway after a boat capsized in Lake Baringo, from Salabani to Kokwa Island. A multi-agency response team, including the Kenya Red Cross, community members, and marine guards, is currently in action,” the statement read.

“11 individuals have been rescued, but the search and rescue operation for more than five others continues.”
