The accident occurred around 6 p.m. on September 28, 2023, when a private vehicle hit a motorcycle ferrying two pillion passengers head-on.

Five occupants, who were in the vehicle which was heading towards Namanga from Kajiado, died on the spot.

The motorcycle rider and his two pillion passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed by well-wishers to Kajiado Referral Hospital.

Confirming the incident, Oloililai sub-county police commander Hassan Elena said the five passengers died on the spot.

“Unfortunately we have lost five people to an accident. We are in the process of identifying them. Three survivors of the accident are recuperating at the hospital,” Elena said.

The police commander urged all motorists and road users to be vigilant and to avert speeding.

“I urge all road users to be very careful especially during this rainy season because visibility is compromised. Let us all take care of one another by following the stipulated traffic rules,” he added.

The police boss further added that investigations into the cause of the accident had been launched.

The bodies were moved to the Kajiado Referral Hospital morgue.
