Two suspects were on Tuesday, July 5, 2022, arrested for allegedly robbing a matatu driver at gunpoint in Lunga Lunga, Makadara, Nairobi.

A police report seen by K24 Digital indicates that the duo attacked and robbed Paul Muathi, a driver with Inter-County Sacco, of his mobile phone and Ksh1,000.

Makadara police identify suspects

The first suspect identified as Shayne Orwa was arrested after he was positively identified by the victim.

“Police visited the scene and started trailing on them and managed to arrest Shayne Orwa aged 22 years who was positively identified by the reporter and another witness,” the police report read in part.

Orwa then led the officers to his house where they recovered a toy pistol.

Upon further interrogation by the police, the suspect led the officers to his accomplice identified as Amos Wanyonyi.

After a search at Wanyonyi’s rented house, police recovered a 19-inch Television and three Hashi Gas cylinders, believed to have been stolen elsewhere.

Also in custody is the second suspect’s mother, who attempted to escape during the operation.

The three are being processed for arraignment in court later today.
