‘We are here to win it’ – Okidi speaks on Shabana’s FKF PL title prospects
By Luke Oluoch, February 16, 2026Shabana FC coach Peter Okidi has laid down his team’s title credentials, affirming that the Gusii-based side is not a mere participant in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League.
Speaking after the team edged Posta Rangers 2-0 to move fourth on the log, Okidi termed their performances so far as a strong indicator of their ambitions for the season.
The Glamour Boys have collected 34 points and are currently placed third on the league table standings, ten points adrift of Gor Mahia, who lead proceedings after 20 rounds.
League title
“Shabana is in the league to compete and win it. We are not here to merely participate. Our performances in the league speak for themselves,” he told the press.
The tactician disclosed that their approach to the remaining games remains crucial in their quest for a maiden trophy in recent times.
“Each of our remaining games is like a final. We will take each and every game with the seriousness it deserves, and we believe at the end of the season this team will have something to smile about,” he added.
New signings
The coach also shared on the expected impact of the team’s new signing, adding that the message to help the club better its third position in the league has been impressed on them: “We have a lot of depth in the team. Which is healthy for the team; competition is at its best, which will certainly help us in the long run. Everyone has to be ready for the demands and help the team,” he posited.

After a dream start with wins against APS Bomet and Bandari, Tore Bobe slacked off in their quest for the league, with a treble of defeats derailing their push for the maiden honours in top-flight football.
The team gained its mojo back midway through, maintaining a competitive marker in the season, with a 3-1 win over KCB confirming them among the early pace setters for the league title, ending the year on a high as joint league leaders.
Fifth in 2024
The club has so far tasted defeat once in the year, with their remarkable run seeing them put to the sword formidable opposition such as Bandari FC (twice) and reigning champions Police FC.
The club was among the most improved teams from the 2025 season, finishing the 2024/2025 FKF Premier League season in 5th position.
