‘We are going to go on the pitch and beat them’ – Havertz confident ahead of Arsenal-PSG showdown
By Luke Oluoch, May 29, 2026A confident Kai Havertz has pinpointed why the London club can afford to believe ahead of their UEFA Champions League final against PSG in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday, May 30, 2026.
The highly anticipated encounter in Hungary comes as the Gunners seek to win their first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy in only their second appearance in the final.
Havertz believes this achievement has been earned through their impressive run in the competition this term.
Confidence
The German international stated that their record in the tournament and their consistency at the highest level in recent history under Mikel Arteta make them a force to be reckoned with.
“To be fair, they are the best team and have played an unbelievably good season,” Havertz said. “For us, it’s the second time we’ve made it to the final, but we have so much confidence because we have been fighting at the highest level for a couple of years now. Finally winning the Premier League has given us a big boost as well.”
The Gunners head into the final unbeaten in Europe this season, but they are still ranked as underdogs against the French side, who enter as the defending champions.
Rampant PSG
Luis Enrique’s team has been in rampant form since eliminating Mikel Arteta’s men in the semifinals of the competition last season.
This season, the Parisians have already eliminated Chelsea FC and Bayern Munich in a ruthless display of phenomenal attacking football.
They sent Liam Rosenior’s team packing with an 8-2 aggregate win before adding six-time competition winners Liverpool to their casualty list with a 4-0 aggregate score in the quarterfinals.

The French capital-based side then dispatched Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate in a thrilling semifinal meeting to set up the clash with Arsenal.
“It does not matter whether you are an underdog or whatever; we are going into the final to beat them,” Havertz added.
The Gunners arrived at the Heroes Stadium in Budapest on Thursday, May 28, 2026, ahead of the final clash, which will kick off at 7:00 pm.
