The 2026 edition of the UEFA Champions League Final is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026.  

The final will be hosted in Budapest, Hungary, marking the first time the city has hosted a European Cup/Champions League final.

The stadium also hosted the UEFA Europa League decider in 2023, but this will be the first time that the final of Europe’s premier club competition is held in Hungary.

However, following Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, securing a 2-1 aggregate win, one of the finalists is now known as the action shifts to Wednesday, May 6, 2026, return leg clash pitting PSG and Bayern Munich.

The two European giants go head-to-head in Allianz Arena in Germany, starting at 10:00 pm.

PSG are the cup’s defending champions, following their crushing victory over Inter Milan in last year’s final.

They will be facing six-time winners Bayern Munich, who last lifted the trophy in 2020, by defeating them in the finals held in Estadio Da Luz , Portugal, courtesy of Kingsley Coman’s strike.

Here are quick facts about the upcoming final in Hungary:

Host City:

The final will be held in Budapest, Hungary, marking the first time the city has hosted a European Cup/Champions League final.

The Stadium: The match will take place at the Puskás Aréna, which has a capacity of 67,215 spectators.

Kick-off Time: In a change from the tradition of late kick-off, the match is scheduled for an earlier kick-off at 8:00 pm.

Arsenal has officially qualified for the final. Arsenal’s first Champions League final in 20 years, their only other appearance being the 2005/06 loss to Barcelona

Tickets & Atmosphere

Fan Allocation: Each finalist club is allocated exactly 17,200 tickets for their supporters.

Affordability:

UEFA has reserved a Fans First category with tickets priced at £60 (approx. Ksh11,000) to keep the final accessible.

Ticket for the general public

In addition to club fans, 4,600 tickets were made available to the general public worldwide via a lottery system.

Meeting with football legends

As part of making the event a memorable occasion, UEFA announced through its portal the return of the Champions League legends festival event.

“The Ultimate Champions Legends Tournament (UCLT) returns in 2026 with UEFA Champions League legends from around the world taking the pitch at Papp László Budapest Sportaréna on Friday, May 29, 2026,” UEFA stated in a past update.

The event will borrow from last year’s sold-out, revamped event in Munich, which featured legends such as Luís Figo, Kaká, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Andrés Iniesta, along with special guests including iShowSpeed, who recently toured Kenya; Receba; Gli Autogoal, Anton Rinas, and others, will once again battle it out, vying to become this year’s Ultimate Champions, in what will be a fitting curtain-raiser to the final a day later.
