Upbeat mood as rejuvenated Tusker ramps up preparations for Leopards duel
A carnival mood was palpable at the Tusker FC training ground as the FKF Premier League side stepped up for the Premier League clash against AFC Leopards.
The team under Julien Mette welcomes Ingwe at Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, March 22, 2026, looking to build on their massive turnaround coinciding with the coming of the French tactician.
Brewers have seen better days in recent days of the league, with the club running high on a three-game unbeaten run since the arrival of the new tactician.
After marking his FKF PL debut on a false start in a defeat to Shabana, Mette has since shown all signs of steadying the ship, with three wins on the trot against Murang’a Seal, Kariobangi Sharks, and Kakamega Homeboyz seeing the club ascending the league table.
The real test for the Frenchman, however, certainly lies in the shape of Fred Ambani’s title-chasing Leopards.

After a series of inconsistent outcomes, Ingwe fittingly bounced back to keep their league chase alive by edging Nairobi United in a midweek rescheduled tie on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.
The task remains daunting for Leopards, as any more slip-ups could prove costly in their prospects of catching up with leaders, Gor Mahia.
Mette on Tusker prospects
Speaking after their previous win at home against Kakamega Homeboyz, Mette praised the availability of options within his team as key to effecting the plan he wishes to go forward with.
“We now have players in each position, and I can switch players, meaning that those who lose competitiveness can lose their spots, and those working hard can get in the team. I am happy with that,” he stated.
The clash also comes as Leopards continue to contend with more injury woes. Ingwe, who have defender Kaycie Odhiambo ruled out for approximately two weeks after sustaining a foot injury, were made to make an enforced change midway in the Nairobi United clash, with keeper Humphrey Katasi leaving the field of play.
The custodian added to a list of the club’s injury concerns, which also includes Elias Mugane and Maxwell Otieno among the players sidelined by long-term injuries.
