Tyson Otieno emphasises importance of AFC Leopard’s win over Kariobangi Sharks in FKF PL title race
AFC Leopards’ match hero in the Sunday, March 29, 2026, victory over Kariobangi Sharks has described the win as a crucial turning point in the context of the league title race.
Speaking after inspiring Ingwe to a famous win that moved them within four points of leaders Gor Mahia, Tyson stated that the team will draw inspiration from the victory to pursue the log leaders with fresh vigour.
Motivated for the chase
“We are happy with the win. We are now much closer to the leaders. We also have the proper motivation to keep fighting in the coming games,” he stated.
He also spoke on his brilliantly taken goal, which delivered the ultimate blow via a tricky shot that deceived Sharks keeper Sebastian Wekesa on its way into the net. The former Sharks man came back to haunt his former employers, with his 57th-minute cross-cum-shot fooling Wekesa for the match-winner.
“It was all about instinct. I noticed the keeper was a bit off his line and tried my shot to lob it over him,” he explained.
The midfielder has proven to be a crucial cog in the Leopards’ jigsaw after signing for the club from former champions Police at the start of the season. He attributed his impact to a desire to always work hard and exploit the God-given talent he possesses.

“It is God who imparts the talent; as a player, you only have to be hard-working and work to achieve your goals,” he added.
Tyson’s sentiments in a big way voiced the upbeat mood that engulfed the Nyayo National Stadium after the clash as Ingwe fans broke out in chants and jubilation after the win.
A wave of celebratory chants of “Ingwe! Ingwe!” filled the air at Nyayo National Stadium shortly after a spectacular victory.
Celebrations
A sea of AFC Leopards fans in attendance seized the moment to savour the team’s third consecutive 1-0 victory, joining the playing unit in a round of applause.
This crucial victory for Fred Ambani’s charges came at a critical juncture, with an injury-ravaged squad that was operating on a small margin for error as the league enters its final rounds.
With less than eight games to play, Ingwe is now four points behind Gor, who will resume club duties with a clash against Kariobangi Sharks on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
