Nyayo Stadium inspection

“Today, I led a high-level technical inspection at Nyayo National Stadium as we step up preparations for the Kip Keino Classic set for April 24,” Korir stated.

The exercise brought together key stakeholders, including Sports Director General Timothy Kilimo, with discussions centred on evaluating the stadium’s readiness and fine-tuning final infrastructure requirements.

Korir also emphasised that the engagement was crucial in aligning all parties involved to deliver a world-class event, noting that the inclusion of international timing experts underscores Kenya’s commitment to maintaining global competition standards.

“Together with TimeTronics experts from Belgium, the stadium inspector and our Local Organising Committee, we held a key session with Sports Stadia Director General Timothy Kilimo to assess venue readiness and align on final infrastructure requirements,” he added.

The Kip Keino Classic, part of the prestigious World Athletics Continental Tour, has grown into one of Africa’s premier track and field events, regularly attracting elite athletes from across the globe. This year’s edition is expected to be no different, with organisers keen on delivering a seamless experience for both athletes and fans.

”From precision timing systems to track quality and athlete facilities, every detail matters. Our goal is clear: to deliver a world-class event that reflects Kenya’s global leadership in athletics. We are ready. Nairobi is ready. The world is coming,” he added.
