Title-chasing Gor Mahia step up preparations for Police showdown
By Luke Oluoch, May 9, 2026Gor Mahia FC players have been hard at work this Saturday, May 9, 2026, as the club prepares for a high-stakes Football Kenya Premier League clash against Police FC on Sunday, May 10.
In an update shared via the club’s social media on Saturday, May 10, 2026, K’Ogalo squad were put through their paces by the technical bench, led by head coach Charles Akonnor. The training session focused on both ball work and strength conditioning as the countdown to kickoff against the law enforcers looms.
Gor Mahia will host Nicholas Muyoti’s side seeking a victory that would bring them one step closer to clinching the league title. As the runaway leaders, they remain the favourites to reclaim the throne.
They currently sit atop the standings with 64 points after 30 matches following their win against Homeboyz in their previous league encounter that left them holding a solid nine-point lead over arch-rivals AFC Leopards.
Next on their test this weekend is a formidable third-place Police side, who trail the leaders by 13 points and remain one of the most in-form teams in the country.
Police FC form
Police FC enters the match on a seven-game unbeaten run across the league and FKF Cup. Notably, they head into this fixture just a month after delivering a devastating title blow to AFC Leopards with a 3-1 victory at the same venue in what has been a turnaround of form under the former Nairobi United gaffer.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia has rallied its supporters to take advantage of discounted ticket bundles. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in groups of four for Ksh1,000, a savings over the standard Ksh1,200 total.
“Fans are encouraged to buy tickets now to avoid the hustle and delays,” the club statement read.
The club also sent a caution to fans to avoid last-minute ticket purchases on matchday, stating fans risk being locked out of the clash as an overwhelmed ticketing portal could likely suffer downtime.
The first leg encounter pitting the two ended in a 2-0 win for Gor Mahia at the Nyayo National Stadium.
