AFC Leopards’ league ambitions suffer major blow in humiliating defeat to Police
AFC Leopards’ push for league honours suffered another dent following a heavy 3-0 loss to Kenya Police on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Ingwe approached the encounter at their Nyayo National Stadium fortress, hoping to extend their fine form against a side ranked just below them in third. However, proceedings proved difficult in the capital as the visitors dominated from the onset.
A surreal first half saw the law enforcers storm to a comfortable three-goal lead, completely taking the wind out of the sails of Fred Ambani’s side, who seemed to have no answer for the clinical police attack.
Muyoti’s in-form team
The result marks a significant turning point for Nicholas Muyoti’s men, whose unbeaten run now stands at three consecutive wins. The reigning champions have been in imperious form, claiming five victories in their last six outings.
The in-form Burkinabe striker, Yves Junior Koutiama, fired the visitors ahead just six minutes in following a defensive mix-up in the Leopards’ backline. Police doubled their advantage in the 30th minute when Erick Zakayo found the net, breaking the resolve of the Ingwe faithful who were expecting an equaliser to spark their own fightback.

Things went from bad to worse just before the interval as Charles Ouma added a third, leaving Leopards with a mountain to climb to salvage anything from the encounter.
Damage inflicted
The sole consolation for Leopards in a dismal first-half display was the anticipated return of skipper Kayci Odhiambo, who joined the fray shortly after the second goal was conceded.
The damage was already inflicted, with the crushing defeat leaving Ingwe once again hoping for a slip-up from league leaders Gor Mahia, who host Bandari FC at Kasarani Stadium.
The match’s kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 pm.
The two have been the leading contenders for the league title this season, but a spate of losses has since seen the reigning champions threatening to join the party.

The foregoing comes as Shabana FC also extended their fine home run with a 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz in an FKF PL encounter on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Assiss Mambote’s expertly taken goal at the half-hour mark proved the difference as Tore Bobe claimed successive wins for the first time under coach Marc Ongwae.
The club approached the tie on the back of a morale-boosting victory over Kuta Collection to storm the FKF Cup last eight and just managed to get the job done on their return to league action.
