Shabana’s Peter Okidi vows to stop AFC Leopards in FKF Premier League title charge
By Joel Masibo, February 26, 2026Shabana FC head coach Peter Okidi has vowed to stop former champions AFC Leopards in the heated FKF Premier League title charge when the two community clubs clash at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, March 1, 2026.
In the reverse fixture, AFC Leopards came from a goal down to stage a memorable comeback, walking away with a 2-1 victory against the Glamour Boys at Gusii Stadium on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
However, after stunning Mathare United 1-0 in a dramatic league encounter at the Nyayo Stadium on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Okidi said any team that walked out of Gusii Stadium in the reverse fixtures will have to pay back, giving an example of the Slum Boys, who silenced Shabana at home in the first leg.

Payback time
”AFC Leopards came home and walked away with two goals and three points, but as I said earlier, we have changed our mindset; any team that took points from us at Gusii Stadium will have to pay back. Mathare took points from us in the reverse fixture; we just got them back,” Okidi said.
Before Sunday’s fixture, AFC Leopards will be in action on Thursday, February 26, 2026, against KCB, as they seek to pile more pressure on league leaders Gor Mahia. Leopards are placed second on the log with 40 points, the same as Shabana, who have played two more matches than Ingwe. ”I know AFC Leopards are in the momentum, but we will exploit their weakness,” Peter Okidi said.
Speaking on the famous Mathare United win, Peter Okidi revealed that his men were patient enough and knew a goal would come.
Dramatic Mathare win

”We were patient, not desperate. We waited for that moment because we knew we would score. At half-time, I told the boys we had to score. I did not know at what time, but I knew we were to score. It was a good fight, the boys were very patient and with a beautiful display, we only need to be clinical in the final third.” Okidi said.
The tightly contested match appeared headed for a goalless draw before Shabana’s George Onyango struck in the 90+8th minute, breaking Mathare United hearts and handing the Glamour Boys a crucial away win.
