Shabana FC reap big as Ruto hand over new bus
Shabana FC reaped big rewards from President William Ruto’s development tour of Kisii County on Sunday, April 12, 2026.
The event, held at Gusii Stadium, saw the Football Kenya Federation officially hand over a brand new team bus, estimated to cost Ksh27 million, as part of bolstering the club’s effort to compete effectively against other football giants in Kenya’s Premier League.
Modern bus
The bus was part ofRuto’s promise, and its delivery makes Tore Bobe owners of one of the most modern buses in the league.
Additionally, Ruto broke ground for the construction of a 14,000-seater Gusii Stadium. The Ksh1 billion facelift will transform the current county stadium into a FIFA-standard pitch with an eight-lane track.
In addition to the increased capacity, the venue will also feature a fitted canopy, the standard running track, and modern changing rooms.
“Broke ground for the construction of the KSh1 billion, 14,000-seater Gusii Stadium, featuring a FIFA standard pitch and an eight-lane track, set for completion in April 2027,” part of Ruto’s statement read.

According to the Head of State, development will kick off immediately, with completion projected for April 2027.
Gusii Stadium upgrade
“We are rebuilding and expanding Gusii Stadium, giving it a more modern touch that will elevate the facility to global standards.
This is part of our programme of building world-class sporting infrastructure, including Talanta Sports City Stadium, and delivering 25 new facilities and upgrading existing ones across the country,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page.
PS Mariru confirmed that the upgrade will be spearheaded and will be supervised by the Ministry of Defence in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and the Kisii County Government.
