Shabana’s new bus arrives in Kisii ahead of Ruto’s handover
Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Shabana FC has confirmed the safe arrival of its newly acquired team bus in Kisii, setting the stage for a highly anticipated official handover ceremony presided over by President William Ruto, scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2026, at Gusii Stadium.

In an official communication dated Sunday, April 11, 2026, the club announced that the bus had successfully reached Gusii despite minor logistical challenges along the journey. At the event, Ruto will formally present the bus to the team in what is shaping up to be a historic occasion for the Glamour Boys.

In the communication, club Secretary General Elizaphan Kerama lauded fans for their overwhelming support during the journey from Nairobi to Kisii, emphasising the unity that defines the club.
“We are pleased to inform all our supporters and the public that the Shabana FC team bus has safely arrived in Gusii ahead of tomorrow’s official handing over ceremony,” Kerama stated.

He further called upon fans, leaders, and members of the public to turn up in large numbers for the ceremony, terming it a milestone moment in the club’s history.
“We warmly invite all leaders We warmly invite all leaders, supporters, and the general public to turn up in large numbers at Gusii Stadium as the President of the Republic of Kenya, H.E. William Samoei Ruto, officially hands over the bus to the team. All transfer processes have been successfully completed,” he added.
Kerama also expressed gratitude for the passionate reception the team received along the way, noting that such unwavering backing continues to inspire the players and technical bench.
“We extend our deepest and most sincere appreciation to our fans for the overwhelming reception accorded to the team from Nairobi to Kisii. Your unwavering support, passion, and loyalty continue to inspire and uplift the club, we are truly grateful,” he added.

Despite reporting minor disruptions and alleged attempts by a few individuals to derail the process, the club maintained that the journey ultimately highlighted the strength and solidarity within the Shabana fraternity.
“Despite heavy traffic and minor challenges along the way, and attempts by a few individuals to sabotage the process, which were unsuccessful, this journey has clearly demonstrated the strength and unity of our great club,” Kerama remarked.
The club also took the opportunity to congratulate its players for progressing to the quarterfinals of a domestic competition, urging fans to continue rallying behind the team. In addition to the main ceremony, fans will be treated to friendly matches featuring Shabana’s developmental side against Lowland FC, followed by a clash between the senior team and Gucha Stars.
With excitement building across Kisii County, the handover ceremony is expected to draw a large crowd, marking a significant chapter in Shabana FC’s growth and ambitions. The club ranks among the country’s top three community clubs that command massive support, among Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards.

The handover ceremony comes shortly after the Glamour Boys edged Kuta Collection 1-0 to reach the 2026 FKF Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The club is currently placed fifth in the FKF Premier League, after challenging both Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards for the title earlier in the season.
