Shabana appeal to fans to stop chanting political slogans during matches
Football Kenya Federation Premier League side Shabana FC has issued a heartfelt appeal to their supporters, urging them to uphold unity and safeguard the club’s image by avoiding political chants and divisive slogans during matches as the 2027 general election nears.
Fans’ appeal
In a memorandum addressed to all fans on Friday, February 27, 2026, the club’s branch leadership emphasised the importance of maintaining a positive and inclusive atmosphere in the stands, reminding supporters that while passion and energy are central to football culture, certain chants could inadvertently expose the club to disciplinary action, financial penalties, and reputational damage.
The statement highlighted that political expressions, even when well-intentioned, risk placing the club in jeopardy, potentially overshadowing the very spirit that brings fans together.
Shabana FC stressed that the stadium should remain a sanctuary of sport, unity, and shared pride, rather than a platform for division.

The leadership encouraged fans to instead channel their enthusiasm into singing the Shabana anthem, uplifting football chants, and traditional Gusii folk songs that reflect the club’s heritage and identity. According to the statement, such cultural expressions not only strengthen the bond among supporters but also inspire players on the pitch and preserve the dignity of the club badge.
“Let our voices echo with culture, loyalty, and unwavering support for the team,” read part of the message, asserting the belief that collective singing and positive energy play a crucial role in motivating the squad and fostering unity among fans.

Impressive run
The club has also called for togetherness, urging supporters to protect the club and continue standing firmly behind the team. As Shabana FC navigate the season, the Glamour Boyz have gained rhythm with a series of impressive results.
Shabana FC will be in action against AFC Leopards on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium. The team, under the tutelage of head coach Peter Okidi, is placed third on the log with 40 points, the same as AFC Leopards, who are second.
