Prisons tighten grip as men’s volleyball title race heats up

The race for supremacy in the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Men’s Division One League is gathering momentum following the conclusion of the fourth leg, with Prisons Kenya maintaining a commanding lead at the summit of the standings.
Table outlook
Prisons Kenya continues to assert its dominance this season, sitting comfortably at the top of the table with 36 points after winning 12 of their 13 matches. Their consistency and strong performances have established them as the team to beat as the competition edges closer to its decisive stages.
Hot on their heels is Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), who occupy second place with 31 points despite having played 11 matches, two fewer than the league leaders. KPA’s impressive record of 10 wins and just one loss highlights their strong title credentials, and their games in hand could prove crucial in shaping the championship race, with recently introduced changes in picking match officials.
Chema Volleyball Club remains firmly in the hunt in third position with 30 points from 13 matches, maintaining steady pressure on the top two teams. Meanwhile, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) rounds out the top four with 26 points from 12 matches, positioning themselves well within reach of the leading pack.
Just outside the top four, Trailblazers Volleyball Club holds fifth place with 23 points, followed by KAPU in sixth with 22 points after playing the most matches so far at 14 games. Equity Bank sits seventh on 21 points, boasting an impressive 7-3 record from only 10 matches, indicating strong potential to climb higher up the standings with additional fixtures still to be played.
Mid-table standings
In the middle section of the table, Eldowas occupies eighth place with 19 points, while General Service Unit (GSU) is ninth with 15 points from 10 matches. Kenya Army follows in tenth with 13 points, keeping themselves within striking distance of mid-table safety.
Further down the standings, AP Kenya and Prisons Nairobi are tied on 10 points, though AP Kenya has played fewer matches. Prisons Western and Prisons Rift Valley remain in the relegation-threatened zone with three points each, struggling to gain momentum this season.
Danger zone
At the bottom of the table, National Youth Service (NYS) continues to endure a difficult campaign, managing just two points from 12 matches and still searching for their first victory of the season. Meanwhile, the Kenya Forest Service is listed without a single match played after opting out of the league.
With several matches still to be played, the KVF Men’s Division One League title race remains wide open. While Prisons Kenya holds the advantage, challengers like KPA, Chema Volleyball Club, and KDF remain firmly in contention.
