Olunga set for sensational return to former employers in Qatar

Harambee Stars talisman Michael Olunga is set for an emotional return to his former employers in Qatar as Al Arabi travels to face Al Duhail on Saturday, February 21, 2026.
The Kenyan departed the club on Friday, July 5, 2025, for record champions and crosstown rival and record champions Al Arabi in a transfer that ended his four-and-a-half-year spell with the former.

Olunga enjoyed a history-making stint, etching his name in the 10,000-seater Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium with his remarkable goal-scoring feat.

His record at Duhail saw him win several major honours, including Qatar Stars League titles and multiple cup trophies. His ability to deliver in crucial moments, like his debut goal in a 7-1 win over Al Wakrah and standout performances against rivals like Al Rayyan, cemented his place as one of the most feared strikers in the region.

In total, the striker netted an incredible 130 goals, becoming the club’s all-time top scorer and etching his name in the club’s folklore for his influential role in their domestic and continental campaigns.
Following his switch to Al Arabi, the Kenyan and the club have enjoyed measured success, with Arabi having steadily climbed the league standings and currently at fifth, on 23 points, nine behind leaders Al Sadd.
Olunga start to life
The Kenyan talisman sparked to life the team’s slow start by providing an assist as they secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Al Wakra in a Qatar Stars League (QSL) match played on Wednesday. January 8, 2026.
He had racked up two assists and eight league goals in 12 games for his club by the end of January.
A previous meeting between the two came in August 2025, when Al Arabi thrashed their rivals 4-0 to eliminate them in a domestic cup tie.
