Amateur boxers Mbavu Destroyer and Majembe have engaged in a heated TikTok clash, hyping their highly anticipated bout scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, as boxing enthusiasts and social media users await one of the most famous matches in recent days.

The two boxers, who have amassed a huge social media following within the blink of an eye, exchanged words via TikTok live on Friday night, February 26, 2026, with Majembe promising Mbavu a beating of a lifetime in the ring.

While on the opposite side, Mbavu Destroyer challenged Majembe to build his mother a house from the fight’s proceeds, as he had promised earlier. Mbavu further said Majembe risks losing his girlfriend in relation to what awaits him in the ring.

Majembe and Mbavu clash

”Enda jengea mokoro keja kwanza, huyo manzi atakuwacha. This is my wife, wife manyoya. Huyu ni nani huyu?” Mbavu said.

In his defence, Majembe declared war on Mbavu over his sentiments. He threatened to make Mbavu pay for his bad mouthing in the ring come April.

‘Nakuhurumia, nikikupata! Ongea tu hivi, hiyo mdomo inaongea mingi utajua hujui! Nitakupiga ushangae. Tukikutana kwa ring utalipia ukiwa peke yako. Nitakupiga na hiyo mdomo yako!” Majembe responded.

The social media hype around the contest has caught the attention of President William Ruto, who has pledged Ksh2 million for the fight. Ruto has also rallied Kenyans to turn up in large numbers to cheer their favourite boxer.

The support was delivered through Lang’ata Member of Parliament (MP) and media personality Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, who broke down the contribution as follows: Ksh2 million for the purchase of 2,000 match tickets, Ksh1 million awarded to Mbavu Destroyer, and Ksh1 million to Majembe.

Mbavu Destroyer is famed for his training base and style, where his main tools of trade are building blocks that have led to the widespread phrase Weka Mawe.

In his recent interview with a local TV station, Mbavu said his humble upbringing is his biggest motivation. The boxer, a casual labourer, said he could not afford a proper education, but being the firstborn, the responsibility of providing for his family rests on his shoulders.
