Malkia Strikers’ captain Meldina Sande inspired Police VC to a crucial 3-0 victory over archrivals EAU Volleyball Club in a Rwandese Volleyball National League encounter played this Saturday, February 21, 2026.

The mercurial attacker led the charge, powering the offense with key spikes to secure the win and boost the team’s playoff chances.

Women’s standings

The policewomen’s team entered the tie in need to get their league run on track against the leading pack of APR Women and Kepler, who lead the women’s standings with 30 and 24 points, respectively.

In other encounters played on Friday, February 20, 2026, three Wafalme stars also guided their teams to victories.

Elphas Makuto and Brian Melly helped Police VC overcome rivals APR in a 3:0 straight set.

The defeat marked a crushing setback to another Kenyan, Dennis Esokon, who plies his trade with the reigning National League champions.

Meanwhile, it proved crucial for Police, who consolidated their push for a playoff spot in the men’s division.

The law enforcement team has enjoyed a mixed run in the league and entered the tie ranked fifth on 26 points after 13 games.

The rank has them trailing APR, who leads proceedings by 33 points.

Men’s division

Kenyan opposite hitter Nicholas Matui had also registered a crucial victory after Rwanda Energy Group (REG) VC dispatched KVC by three sets to one in another phase two encounter.

REG, under a Ugandan coach, Benon Mugisha, was placed fourth heading to Friday’s encounters.

A victory would guarantee them a move up the standings.

The wins come in handy for the Kenyans’ ultimate quest to help their respective teams secure qualification to the decisive playoff stages to start later in March.

Playoff procedure

As per the country’s playoff rules, four teams (in men’s and women’s categories separately) advance to the playoffs, which use a best-of-five series format (a team needs 3 wins to advance or win the championship).

The APR men’s and police women’s clubs are the reigning champions of the top league.
