Matano discloses KCB’s tactics that stunned title-chasing AFC Leopards

Speaking after the tie, Matano said his charges approached the game with the intent of thwarting Leopards’ strong points, especially in the offensive department.
He specifically stated that they focused on ensuring that their winger and creative midfielder, Tyson Otieno and Kelly Madada, did not get to influence the tie.
“We had to make sure Tyson and Madada do not function and also ensure their wingers do not get to influence the game, such as the likes of (James) Kinyanjui,” he stated.
Following a goalless first half, the Bankers stormed to the lead in the 68th minute after David Sakwa ghosted past defender Kayci Odhiambo to nod the decisive goal past Humphrey Katasi in goal. The strike proved crucial as the home team held on with resolute defending to dent AFC Leopards’ title chances with a rare defeat.

The defeat leaves Ingwe now trailing Gor Mahia by six points, with both sides tied at 21 games.

In another encounter. Kariobangi Sharks breathed life into their league survival quest after edging APS Bomet by a solitary goal in the clash staged at the Awendo Green Stadium. The win saw William Muluya’s charges climb out of the drop zone.
The Sharks are now ranked 14th with 22 points. ahead of Ulinzi Stars, APS Bomet, Bidco United, and bottom-placed Sofapaka.
