Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate set to leave Anfield
Liverpool FC defender Ibrahima Konaté is set to leave the club at the end of the season, marking another top star to exit the English Premier League giants after the campaign.
The 27-year-old is set to walk away for free, having been in talks with the club about extending his contract, but could not find common ground.
He now joins Mohammed Salah and defender Andy Robertson among the players set to leave the club.
According to reports, no agreement has been reached between the club and the player over a new contract, despite the French defender suggesting in April 2026 that an extension was close to being finalised, adding that “it was all he ever wanted”.

The French international was the subject of a move away from Anfield last season, with Real Madrid top among his possible destinations before the interest waned.
The towering defender joined in the summer of 2021 and went on to make 183 appearances for Liverpool, helping them win the Premier League in 2024/25, as well as the FA Cup and EFL Cup in 2022.
This season, the Frenchman made 51 appearances and scored twice as Liverpool secured Champions League qualification on the final day of the campaign.
Big names leaving
Reacting to the big names’ exits, the club skipper Virgil van Dijk noted that it was sad to see the players leave him behind after what he described as a season that was one of the most challenging.
The Dutchman, however, backed the club to rise from the poor campaign and rise again.
“It’s been the most challenging year of my career. It’s tough to take and tough to go through that as a team. “But we are Liverpool. We always come out of it stronger,” he stated.
