Real Madrid set the record straight on Michael Olise’s pursuit

In response on Saturday, June 20, 2026, to widespread media reports claiming the Spanish giants were actively plotting a move for the French international currently in the Les Blues World Cup squad, the Los Blancos categorically denied any dealings.
Shutting down the rumours
The club explicitly stated it has not initiated any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage,” effectively shutting down the speculations.

“In response to reports in various media outlets regarding an alleged interest from our club in Bayern Munich player Michael Olise, Real Madrid CF wishes to state that it has not had any direct or indirect contact with the aforementioned player, his representatives, or anyone in his entourage,” part of the statement read.
The statement expressed clear regret over the spread of media speculation, noting that the rumours do not correspond to reality. Madrid has also reinforced the long-standing bond between the two European powerhouses, asserting that they share an excellent institutional relationship.

Real Madrid also wishes to highlight the excellent institutional relationship it maintains with Bayern Munich, with whom it shares a long history of mutual respect, collaboration and admiration, and regrets the spread of speculation that does not correspond to reality.
“Both clubs have always maintained a relationship based on trust and mutual respect, which is reflected, among other aspects, in the shared conviction that any potential interest in a player belonging to the other club must be dealt with first between the entities themselves, in accordance with the principles of institutional loyalty that have historically governed the relations between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid,” the statement concluded.
Real Madrid has already announced three marquee signings as part of a major rebuild, which also sees the return of Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho at the Bernabéu.
Former Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella leads the list of ex-EPL stars arriving at Madrid. The new arrivals are Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate, both of whom join following the expiry of their contracts with Man City and Liverpool, respectively.
The former La Liga winners are keen to wrestle back Barcelona’s growing influence in domestic football, with the Catalans claiming back-to-back league titles.
