Inside list of 2025/2026 FKF Premier League Awards nominees
The list of candidates for the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation League Awards has been released ahead of the annual awards event scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2026 at a Nairobi hotel.
Outstanding performers from across the campaign have earned nominations in various categories, with league champions Gor Mahia receiving significant recognition after a successful season.
Player of the Year contenders
Five players have been shortlisted for the league’s top individual honour. Gor Mahia’s Enock Morrison and Musa Shariff are among the nominees, alongside AFC Leopards defender Kayci Odhiambo, Mara Sugar midfielder Jimmy Owili, and Murang’a Seal striker Joseph Waithira.

Waithira enjoyed a prolific season in front of goal for Murang’a Seal, while Morrison and Shariff were instrumental in Gor Mahia’s championship-winning run. Odhiambo and Owili also impressed with consistent displays throughout the campaign.
Coaches in the running
Three tacticians have been nominated for the Coach of the Year award. They include Gor Mahia’s Charles Akonnor, AFC Leopards head coach Fred Ambani, and APS Bomet’s Sammy Omollo.
Akonnor guided Gor Mahia to league glory, Ambani led AFC Leopards through a competitive season, while Omollo earned recognition for his work at APS Bomet.
Emerging talent recognised
Several young players who made a strong impact during the season have been shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year accolade.
The nominees are Kariobangi Sharks winger Humphrey Aroko, Nairobi United midfielder Kevin Wangaya, Mara Sugar defender Robinson Musungu, Kakamega Homeboyz forward Oliver Machaka, and AFC Leopards youngster Kelly Madada.
Midfield and defensive excellence
The Best Midfielder category features Enock Morrison, Tyson Otieno, Estone Esiye, Biron Otieno, and Geoffrey Ojunga.
For the Best Defender award, the nominees are Jimmy Owili, Abud Omar, Wycliffe Omondi, Kayci Odhiambo, Robinson Musungu, and Paul Ochuoga.
Golden Boot and Golden Glove nominees
Murang’a Seal striker Joseph Waithira and Ulinzi Stars attacker Paul Okoth have been nominated for the Golden Boot, with the final outcome dependent on the completion of the season’s remaining fixtures.

Shabana goalkeeper Stephen Ochieng Otieno has been selected as the sole nominee for the Golden Glove award after an impressive campaign between the posts.
Fair Play Awards
Mara Sugar’s Drona Openda, Mathare United defender Ian Omondi, and Kariobangi Sharks midfielder Timothy Ekhavi have been shortlisted for the Most Disciplined Player award.
Meanwhile, Mara Sugar, Kariobangi Sharks, and Mathare United will compete for the Most Disciplined Team honour.
Team of the Season
The Team of the Season selection includes standout performers drawn from several clubs, among them Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards, Mara Sugar, Shabana, Kenya Police, Kariobangi Sharks, Ulinzi Stars, and Murang’a Seal.

The awards gala is expected to attract players, coaches, club administrators, sponsors, and other key football stakeholders as they gather to celebrate the best performers of the 2025/26 SportPesa League season.
