Gor Mahia’s Enock Morrison crowned FKF PL MVP
By Luke Oluoch, June 5, 2026Enoch Morrison of Gor Mahia was crowned Football Kenya’s most promising player for the 2025/26 season as the curtains officially came down on the thrilling league campaign.
The Ghanaian enforcer bagged a couple of awards in the night, also taking home the midfielder of the season accolade, beating AFC Leopards’ ace Tyson Otieno and his teammate Shariff Musa.
In an emotional scene, Morrison dedicated the award to his late mother and the late veteran politician and former Gor Mahia patron Raila Odinga.
Amid tears, the midfielder who took to the stage with a Gor Mahia scarf and a Raila Odinga portrait additionally thanked the Kenyan football community for making him feel at home.
“Thank you to everybody in Gor Mahia and my coach, who supported my football journey. This award is not for Morisson; it is for Kenyan football,” he stated.
Gor dominates
The newly crowned 22-time league champions Gor Mahia, who beat AFC Leopards to the title, were notably the biggest winners of the night with Mara Sugar also taking home a couple of awards in the playing categories.
Mara’s captain, Drona Openda, bagged the league’s most disciplined player award as Francis Xavier’s team also secured the league’s most disciplined team award, an honour for the side that exhibited unique discipline in their games in line with the spirit of fair play.
In other playing categories, Muranga Seal’s mercurial skipper, Joe Waithira, was feted as the Golden Boot award winner, the gong duly acknowledging his impressive finishing prowess as the league’s top scorer with 19 goals.

His fellow peers also voted him the Players’ Player of the Season, handing him another accolade after missing out on the Most Valuable Player prize, where he was also a nominee alongside Gor Mahia’s Shariff Musa and Mara Sugar’s defender Jimmy Owili.
Owili beat Abud Omar and Kayci Odhiambo in the best defender category. The left back emerged as the surprise winner for the awards after his exploits that saw him top the assist charts for the players tasked with preventing goals.
Title-winning coach Charles Akonnor was named the coach of the season after winning his first league title since taking over the reins at K’Ogalo. He shrugged off competition from Sammy Omollo of APS Bomet and AFC Leopards’ Fred Ambani, whose team emerged as the league’s runners-up.
