Gor Mahia new signings: A look at K’Ogalo’s fresh additions ahead of 2026/27 season

By , August 19, 2026

Gor Mahia’s new players were officially introduced to the K’Ogalo family following the club’s Green Legacy Cup victory over Migori Youth at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The colourful induction ceremony comes as the record league champions look to kick off their title defense in the FKF Premier League alongside their upcoming CAF assignments.

Among those presented to the fans was the goalkeeping duo of Humphrey Katasi and Michael Onyango. Onyango arrives as a former Equity FC custodian, while Katasi completed a sensational cross-town transfer from arch-rivals AFC Leopards.

Gor’s signing approach

Gor Mahia’s end-of-season transfer business focused heavily on crucial defensive reinforcements. The record 22-time league champions swooped for versatile right-back Daniel Sakari, a 2025 Premier League winner with Kenya Police.

Besides the Harambee Stars defender, Lesley Otieno also arrived at K’Ogalo following a stint with Nairobi United, where he gained continental exposure playing in the CAF Confederation Cup for the Naibois. Enock Machaka also made a similar move, joining the Green Army from the KPL rivals, while Dennis Omedi, a Ugandan international striker, joined from APR FC.

K’Ogalo also signed midfielder Ebenezer Ocran to replace the void left by FKF PL midfielder of the year, Enoch Morrison, who departed the club at end of the season.

Meanwhile, in a bid to bolster the offensive unit, the club has added Hansel Ochieng, a forward joining from APS Bomet who has historically been a thorn in Gor Mahia’s flesh.

CAF Champions League return

Looking ahead to the new season, K’Ogalo are gearing up for a bustling campaign. Defending their FKF Premier League title is just one of their targets, as Charles Akonnor’s team will also be out to prove their mettle on the continental stage during their return to the CAF Champions League.

Gor’s work is cut out for them, having been paired against Egyptian giants Pyramids FC in the preliminary round.

Following a rather eventful preseason where K’Ogalo emerged as runners-up in the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda, the team returned to Kenya and clinched the Green Legacy Cup after edging KPL newcomers Migori Youth FC on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

Gor’s most immediate priority is the 2026/27 FKF Premier League curtain-raiser in the FKF Super Cup against FKF Shield champions Tusker FC.

FKF Super Cup

In a statement released on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, the reigning FKF PL champions confirmed that the Super Cup match will take place at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday, August 23, 2026, with kick-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.

“The venue is confirmed! We will be at Nyayo Stadium this Sunday, August 23rd, 2026, as we take on Tusker FC in the season’s curtain-raiser (Super Cup) from 3 pm,” the club’s statement on the encounter stated.
