Brian Wanyama leaves AFC Leopards
By Luke Oluoch, July 26, 2026AFC Leopards have confirmed the departure of midfielder Brian Wanyama, who leaves the club after spending six years with the FKF Premier League outfit.
Wanyama’s exit was confirmed by the club on Sunday, July 26, 2026, adding to the list of recent high-profile departures that includes Victor Omune, among others.
In a statement, Ingwe noted that the former youth team product, who successfully rose through the ranks, will be departing the Den following a lengthy tenure with the club. Wanyama developed through the Leopards Youth team (Cubs) and went on to become a key figure in the midfield.
Despite signing a contract extension on September 6, 2025, his time at the club has now come to an end after six seasons. He found playing time hard to come by recently, with coach Charles Okere preferring the likes of Kelly Madada, Samuel Ssenyonjo, James Kinyanjui, and Tyson Otieno in offensive roles.
Katasi and Omune leave
In addition, Leopards also confirmed the departure of custodian Humphrey Katasi, who has since joined arch-rivals Gor Mahia.
Katasi’s sensational exit from the den was revealed after Gor Mahia swooped for the goalkeeper to bolster their ranks after clinching the Football Kenya Federation Premier League crown.
He became one of the new arrivals at the reigning champions ahead of the run-in in the domestic league and CAF Champions League campaign.
Meanwhile, Inger has also released skipper Victor Omune. The former Nairobi Stima star has been at the club for the past 5 years
The club praised Omune for representing the famous blue and white colours with pride, commitment, and passion, noting that his influence extended beyond the pitch. AFC Leopards said his leadership inspired teammates, boosted morale, and helped create memorable moments during his spell with the club.
The club expressed its gratitude to the outgoing captain for his service and wished him the very best as he embarks on the next stage of his football career.
The exits add to previous departures from Kevin Owino and Rami Lasso Coulibaly. who have also left the den.
