KPL: APS Bomet stun Nairobi Utd in rescheduled fixture at Nyayo
By Joel Masibo, February 4, 2026APS Bomet grabbed a vital win in the country’s capital after stunning the home side, Nairobi United 2-1 in a rescheduled Football Kenya Federation Premier League clash staged at the Nyayo National Stadium on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
The crucial away win lifts the law enforcers out of the relegation zone as the 2025/26 FKF Premier League enters the second round. Anthony Naibei and Dickson Mwangi struck in either half to give APS Bomet a commanding lead at the backyard of Naibois.
Deep in the second half, new signing Muhadjiri Hakizimana found the consolation for Dodfrey Oduor’s men, who took to the pitch shortly after returning from CAF Confederation Cup duties against Azam FC in Zanzibar.
The two sides, both debutants, took to the struggling defensively, a factor that easily influenced the outcome. Nairobi United, currently 10th on the league table, have now conceded at least one goal in all of its seven home matches this season. APS Bomet, who sit 13th, have also failed to keep things tight at the back, conceding in each of their last six league matches.
Nairobi United have had a mixed run of form, managing 21 goals scored and conceding 19, with four clean sheets so far this season. APS Bomet, on the other hand, have found life difficult near the bottom of the table, conceding 27 goals while scoring 21, also managing just four clean sheets.
Recent head-to-head meetings between the two sides show little to separate them, with the Bomet team having picked up two wins in their last three encounters, underlining how evenly matched this fixture has been. The defeat sends Godfrey Oduaor back to the drawing board, as he seeks to stabilise the team that had started life in the top tier on a positive note.
