Kenyan and Kenya-eligible footballers had a mixed outing across Europe, with some making key contributions for their clubs despite a few disappointing team results in their respective leagues on Saturday, March 7, 2026.

Eligible Harambee Stars defender Zak Vyner featured for the Championship side Wrexham FC against Chelsea in an FA Cup tie with a quarter-final ticket up for grabs on Saturday, March 7, 2026. However, Vyner and his team suffered a 4-2 beating at the hands of the Blues at the Racecourse Ground, with vital lessons picked up.

Job Ochieng grabbed a brace for Real Sociedad B against Castellon. The Kenyan prodigy has so far scored five goals in four matches for the Spanish side.

Harambee Stars-eligible winger Linton Maina made a late appearance for 1. FC Köln during their Bundesliga clash against Borussia Dortmund on Saturday evening. Maina was introduced in the 75th minute but could not help his side overturn the deficit as Köln suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat.

In England, Kenya Under-20 midfielder Zech Obiero found the back of the net for Tranmere Rovers in their English Football League Two encounter against Oldham Athletic. Obiero struck deep into stoppage time to score his side’s only goal, but Tranmere still fell 3-1 to their hosts.

It was, however, a memorable day for his older brother Micah Obiero, who delivered a standout performance for Wealdstone FC. The England-born attacker netted twice as Wealdstone cruised to an emphatic 4-1 victory over Braintree Town FC in a National League fixture.

Meanwhile in Denmark, Harambee Stars defender Daniel Anyembe featured for the entire match as Viborg FF took on FC Copenhagen in the semifinal of the Danish Cup. Despite Anyembe’s full 90-minute display, Viborg were edged out 2-1 by the Danish giants.

Elsewhere, Harambee Stars defender Collins Sichenje missed Charlton Athletic’s match against Birmingham City due to injury. However, Charlton’s players appeared motivated to deliver a result for their sidelined teammate, putting in a spirited performance to secure a narrow 1-0 victory.

The performances highlight the growing presence of Kenyan and Kenya-eligible players across European leagues, with several continuing to make their mark at different levels of the game. Their stellar performances come at a time when Harambee Stars is poised to field a strong team for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (2027 AFCON), which will be staged in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.
